Statement on the Separation of Unite Oregon and Unite Oregon Action
Dear Valued Members, Allies, and Community,
We are writing to inform you that Unite Oregon has officially ended its relationship with the separate entity Unite Oregon Action. As a result, that entity is now fully independent and separate from Unite Oregon. While we cannot comment on the work of that separate entity going forward, we can confirm that it will not be in affiliation with Unite Oregon. This means that while Unite Oregon cannot endorse specific candidates, it will continue to organize and advocate through various efforts, such as Lobby Day, which we recently organized and hosted. This decision does not affect the core mission or operations of Unite Oregon.
We remain committed to building power with our immigrant/refugee and BIPOC communities across Oregon and building a just world for all of us. Unite Oregon will continue to fight for immigrant, refugee, Black, Indigenous People of Color, transgender, and rural communities and people experiencing poverty, especially in light of the harmful rhetoric and policies emerging at the national level. We are dedicated to working toward a more just and equitable Oregon for everyone.
We look forward to continuing our work with you, our valued supporters, as we move forward in our mission for justice and equality.
Thank you for your continued support.
In Solidarity,
Nuhamin Eiden (She/They)
Interim Executive Director
Unite Oregon
FAQs
Why is Unite Oregon (c3) dissolving its relationship with Unite Oregon Action (C4)?
Unite Oregon is currently in a period of transition and restructuring. We recognize that this shift may come as unexpected news, and we want to acknowledge the weight of this moment. While internal processes are still ongoing, we remain committed to navigating this change with integrity, transparency, and a continued focus on our long-term vision of building a just and equitable Oregon for all.
What steps are being taken to ensure stability at Unite Oregon during this transition?
We are actively working with legal and governance experts, our board, and leadership teams to ensure a stable path forward. Our top priority is maintaining trust with our community while we build toward a stronger, more accountable future. We’ll share updates as soon as more details are confirmed.
Will Unite Oregon still be politically engaged?
Yes. Unite Oregon remains deeply committed to political engagement that centers the voices of immigrants, refugees, and BIPOC communities. While we no longer have a C4 or Unite Oregon Action as part of our organizational structure, our mission remains unchanged, and our organizing and advocacy efforts will continue through multiple channels. We even participated in Oregon’s Lobby Day, which you can find more about here.
Does this affect Unite Oregon as a whole?
Unite Oregon (C3) continues its day-to-day work, with organizing, advocacy, services, and community power-building all ongoing. Our overall vision remains unchanged.
Should I be concerned?
It’s natural to have questions, and we’re here to answer them as openly as we can. While this moment brings about change, we view it as an opportunity to build a stronger, more transparent foundation for our political work that genuinely reflects the needs of our community. We’re in this together, and we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
