Measure 110 Harm Reduction Panel Discussion

Join us to discuss the importance of harm reduction in our Measure 110 Services!

In honor of December being HIV/AIDS Awareness Month, Unite Oregon and the Healthy Justice Recovery Alliance are hosting a community forum panel discussion about harm reduction services covered under Measure 110. Event panelists will include harm reductionists from HIV Alliance (Lane County), NW Indian ECHO (Benton County), and Cascade AIDS Project (Portland metro). They will share about their work and why harm reduction services are so important for our communities across the state.

Harm reduction focuses on keeping our community members healthy and safe, and is a crucial component of Measure 110 services. Substance use can be difficult to acknowledge, but we know it happens in all communities regardless of race, class, citizenship status, etc. Drug use is not a moral failing, but rather a health issue deserving of medical care. Harm reduction works toward destigmatizing substance use while preventing overdose deaths and reducing negative health outcomes for people who use drugs. These services can be essential in preventing transmission of HIV, and helping people living with HIV/AIDS stay healthy.

Measure 110 is a transformative law that creates a comprehensive system of care to meet individuals where they are in their unique journey. Harm reduction is an essential component of these services. Join us for an in depth discussion on the subject.
