Two weeks have passed since the killing of June Knightly in Normandale Park, and the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) have still not apologized for the inaccurate information they shared after the attack. In their press release, the PPB described the aggression as “confrontation between an armed homeowner and armed protesters”. Unite Oregon demands that the Portland Police Bureau immediately apologizes to the victims and the public and correct the inaccurate information they published.
We also wish to express our strong solidarity with and support for the victims of this heinous violence, who were attacked for simply demanding justice for a victim of police violence. We are deeply grateful to the activists who help keep our community focused on demanding a better world while caring for the most vulnerable amongst us.
