This Monday, January 13th, the Metro Council will hear from our communities about transportation investments that could be part of a 2020 ballot measure later this year. The proposed investments include a mix of priorities, from improvements for transportation safety and building new safe routes to schools, to projects that would improve sidewalks & bike lanes and expand roads in some parts of the region.
If this measure makes it to the ballot, we need to make sure it benefits ALL of our communities, regardless of where we live, work, play, or pray in this region, and no matter how we get there. We need you to raise your voice in support of investments that benefit communities of color, immigrants, refugees, working-class folks, and people who live in places where getting around is a challenge, like East Portland.
Join Unite Oregon and our allies on Monday at the Metro Regional Center, 600 NE Grand Avenue, in Portland. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. and continuing throughout the hearing, Metro staff and local transportation planners will be on hand to answer questions about projects and programs that could be included in a funding measure. From 6 to 9:00pm, the Metro Council will hear directly from us.
If you wish to provide verbal testimony, please plan to sign up in person at Metro between 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Jan. 13th. Verbal testimony at the hearing will be limited to two minutes.
Written testimony of any length may be shared at the meeting or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
