East Portland Economic Prosperity Organizer
Franklin Chen (he/him/his) is an AmeriCorps VISTA member serving as the East Portland Economic Prosperity Organizer at Unite Oregon. Franklin graduated Magna Cum Laude from American University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. His most recent professional experience includes working in private banking and crisis management roles for a leading international investment bank in Hong Kong. He has also worked as a program coordinator at a research institute in Taipei and interned at a market intelligence firm in Beijing. In Washington, D.C., Franklin interned at a civil rights organization advocating for the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Also in Washington, Franklin supported the scholars of the Center for East Asia Policy Studies at a world renown think tank as an intern.
Originally from the Portland metro area, Franklin is an Eagle Scout and passionate about giving back to his community. As the child of immigrants who settled in the Portland metro area and became small business owners, Franklin is interested in building wealth within immigrant and refugee communities and improving access to education. When he is not busy serving his community, Franklin enjoys spending time with his family and friends and rooting for the Portland Trail Blazers.
