Database Administrator & Communications Coordinator - Unite Oregon

Unite Oregon is seeking a Database Administrator & Communications Coordinator to implement and help support in the creation of and management of Unite Oregon’s three core databases, Caseworthy, NationBuilder, and the Voter Activation Network. The Database Administrator and Communications Coordinator will support the creation of complementary or aligned database(s) that coordinate and connect Unite’s direct service work to its organizing work through our Service-to-Organizing Model. They will serve as the system administrator for CaseWorthy Case Management database, as well as the NationBuilder CRM. This position will also support the external communications and Unite’s Statewide team.

Position Title: Database Administrator & Communications Coordinator 

Duration: Full Time, Ongoing 

Compensation: $53,000-$55,000 per year depending on experience; generous and progressive benefits including medical and dental care 100% of premiums paid by Unite Oregon, paid wellness leave, vacation, flex time, and personal days off.

Position Description 

Unite Oregon is seeking a Database Administrator & Communications Coordinator to implement and help support in the creation of and management of Unite Oregon’s three core databases, Caseworthy, NationBuilder, and the Voter Activation Network. The Database Administrator and Communications Coordinator will support the creation of complementary or aligned database(s) that coordinate and connect Unite’s direct service work to its organizing work through our Service-to-Organizing Model. They will serve as the system administrator for CaseWorthy Case Management database, as well as the NationBuilder CRM. This position will also support the external communications and Unite’s Statewide team. 

Position Responsibilities 

You are responsible for the administration of the system, ongoing utilization and successful functioning of the CaseWorthy database, NationBuilder CRM, and Voter Activation Network. You are expected to: Maintain systems general functionality in terms of the systems configuration Be responsible for putting into place and updating network security and data protection protocols to ensure the security of community members’ information 

  • Support Unite Oregon staff in assuring quality data entry via training and technical support Act as the primary contact between Unite Oregon, CaseWorthy, NationBuilder, and NGP VAN (and associated vendors) when issues present
  • Develop testing protocols to be used during CaseWorthy User Acceptance Testing period, ensuring all custom features of database continue to operate during new version releases Collaborate with Service to Organizing Director to develop and operate a CRM that centers research justice practices and integrates direct service and advocacy work
  • Assist in communication support for the project both internally and externally via social media, email, phone, newsletters, earned media, etc.
  • Support fundraising and grant-writing

Required Qualifications 

  • Experience with Relational Database Management Systems – CaseWorthy is built on top of a Microsoft SQL Server Database
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience in providing technical support to a staff including creating training materials, providing trainings, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, while maintaining solid communication with and accountability to the Social Services Director and State-wide Directors team Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
  • Proficient with technology including word processing, Powerpoint, spreadsheets, social media Anti-oppression, anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion work experience Availability to work during evenings and weekends as needed 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • HTML and CSS experience, as NationBuilder uses custom CSS for managing the Unite Oregon website 
  • Advocacy and organizing experience 
  • Social work experience
  • Experience in, or interest in working in an organization that is primarily staffed by and serves immigrant, refugee, and Black, Indigenous, People of Color
