Rise for Refuge: Stop Trump from Ending Asylum & Refugee Resettlement
Community Leaders Meet on August 3rd to Discuss How to Support Our Communities
On the heels of Trump barring virtually all refugees from seeking asylum at the U.S. southern border, reports have surfaced that administration officials are pressing to zero out refugee resettlement in 2020. In response, Unite Oregon is holding a roundtable meeting of immigrant & refugee community leaders, key allies, and elected officials, in order to discuss solutions to protect and support migrants in Oregon. As the federal government turns its back on those fleeing persecution, war, natural disasters, and other forms of hardship, Oregon must step up as a leader in welcoming these communities to our state.
We will:
- Understand and put into context the latest Trump administration attacks on refugees, asylum-seekers, and immigrants;
- Hear from leaders about the impact of bigoted policies on their communities, and;
- Discuss and commit to local & statewide solutions to support migrants in Oregon.
